Kagadi Institute of Science and Technology students offering Motorvehicle Mehanics have undergoing a one day orientation on the professional ethics of an auto repair technician. The event took place on 24th September, 2023 at KISTEC main campus in Kagadi, western Uganda. The lead facilitator was the KISTEC Head of Department for Motorvehicle Mechanics Mr. Ndungu Kusemererwa (Diploma in Automotives Mechanics).
Ndugu said that being a professional auto repair technician is the dream of many young people since this profession is incredibly promising. He however said that, to become a more professional auto repair technician, you have to equip yourself with multitudinous skills.
A professional auto repair technician must have the ability to use, repair and maintain machines and tools. He should also be able to be thorough and pay attention to detail. He should have problem-solving skills as well as the ability to work well with your hands. He should have customer service skills and the ability to work well with others. In addition, an auto repair technician should have thorough knowledge of engineering science and technology.

Learning about different types of tools and their uses is perhaps the easiest way to boost your mechanical aptitude. At KISTEC we do this through use of multimedia learning tools like video tutorials among others.
Students were given a practical exposure in motorcycle repair in a bid to widen their knowledge base.
